Since the first change programmes were implemented with CHAMPS2 starting in 2006, major benefits have been realised.

For example, at Birmingham City Council, where the method was first developed, the benefits included substantial improvements in operating processes, as well as immediate efficiency savings that help to sustain the wider transformation across the Council.

There has been European recognition of CHAMPS2 as a best practice approach to transformational business change, with the European Institute of Public Administration awarding Birmingham City Council a certificate of best practice in 2011. The award submission was based on the role of CHAMPS2 in supporting the delivery of the council's business transformation programme.
